High Water Delays Some Programs but Rouge Camp Filling Up

The cold spring and high water levels are affecting some PRCC programs. The gravel road to the Club will not be open this year but with Phase 1 construction completed, you can now park on Beachpoint Promenade and walk in the rest of the way in. This is a huge improvement from last year.

For the Rouge Camp, the parking lot and road may be flooded, in which case children will have alternate drop-off locations. Stay tuned as we know more in the coming weeks. Weeks 3 & 5 of Rouge Camp (July 15-19, July 29-Aug. 2) are full and four other weeks are nearing capacity! If you want your children in canoe and kayak camp, register today in our 1-week camp or 2-week Intro to Sprint program. Better yet, sign them up for our 8-week program at Frenchman’s Bay, which includes spring paddling. PRCC is investing in new equipment and working to improve both sites. Our fabulous coaches and counsellors have been hired. It is going to be an awesome summer!

Here are updates:

Master’s – start has been delayed until May 28 because of cold water temperatures.

OC-6 – start has been delayed indefinitely because we cannot rig the OC-6 with the water levels so high. We are looking for more participants to join Thursday OC-6. Grab a friend and register today.

PaddleALL – start remains for May 27 but the program will take place from the boat launch area.

Sprint Racing 9-14 – The spring program has begun but because of colder than usual water temperatures, the children are sometimes training on land. Once the full-day program begins in July, coaches will meet children at the circle and walk into the Club as a group. We have lowered the cost to last year’s price — $850 for 8 weeks, full-days from 9-4 with spring paddling included. Siblings at $745.

Sprint Racing 15 Up & High Performance – these athletes are on the water and training hard. We have lowered the price of the Sprint Racing 15 Up.

Rouge Camp & Rouge Intro to Sprint – Stay tuned for information about drop-off locations. Register soon to avoid disappointment.

Rouge Regatta on July 13 – The regatta may be held in Welland. Stay tuned for updates.

Paddle the Rouge on June 15 – Join us and volunteer at this community event. See https://wildlandsleague.org/why-paddle-the-rouge/ for details. If you volunteer, please say that you learned about the event through PRCC.
