Pickering Rouge Canoe Club - Inspiring young paddlers in our communities since 1958

Regatta Success!

  • PRCC

PRCC celebrated its 60th anniversary by winning the burgee at the Pickering Rouge–Balmy Beach Regatta on July 14. The regatta was fun and exciting with a great turn out from area clubs. The run-paddle format and sunny beach setting proved popular with coaches and athletes. The day ended with a massive combined club relay and chocolate birthday cake.

PRCC carried regatta success to the Western Ontario Division regatta (WODs) where we had our best showing in years. Not only did we have a large number of young up-and-coming paddlers but many podium finishes and good coverage of all ages and disciplines. We have 10 athletes who will be competing in 30 events at the Canadian Championships in Sherbrooke, Quebec at the end of August.

Our young paddlers will be competing again in Welland on August 11 for the U13/U15 WOD Championships. We are in urgent need of volunteers at this event. Please sign up on our “Jobs and Volunteering” page at http://pickeringrouge.ca/jobs-volunteering/. Good luck to all of our athletes!

We are pleased to announce that registration is now open for our one-week Sport & Sprint Camp which runs at Frenchman’s Bay from August 13-17. This camp was formerly run by John Hollins and has a long legacy in the Bay. It is designed for children aged 7-11 who thrive in a competitive, active environment. This is a bargain at $150 for the week. Register at http://pickeringrouge.ca/program/canoe-kayak/.

Let’s make the most of the final weeks of summer. Paddles Up!
