Pickering Rouge Canoe Club - Inspiring young paddlers in our communities since 1958

Volunteer at Club Opening

  • PRCC

Summer is Coming! The Club Opening is on Saturday, April 27 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. We need volunteers to clean up our Frenchman’s Bay site and help position docks and dragon boats.

PRCC runs on volunteer power. Club members are expected to provide at least 10 hours of volunteer time over the season or provide a cheque of $100 if this is not possible. Other opportunities to volunteer include the PRCC Open House on May 25, the Pickering Dragon Boat Festival May 31-June 2, and the Rouge Regatta on July 13. We are also looking for dedicated volunteers to help with our PaddleALL program. For details and sign up, see our website under Jobs and Volunteering at http://pickeringrouge.ca/jobs-volunteering/.

For more community good deeds, the Pickering West Shore Community Association is organizing a clean-up of Rotary Frenchman’s Bay West Park on the same day as our Club Opening. If we finish early (which is likely), you can scoot over to the Park and help clean up along the beach and spit areas as well as the forested areas.

Another sign of spring – the High Performance athletes will be on the water this week and our younger athletes on May 6. The Bantam program, formally called Sprint Racing Ages 9-14, is an amazing value which runs full-days from 9-4 for 8 weeks in July and August. Also included is spring paddling for three times a week. The cost for the whole program is only $935 and siblings can register for $840. This is such an amazing value and great way to keep children active, fit and engaged. The summer program includes weekly BBQs, games, beach time and regattas. All sprint programs teach fundamental paddling skills and provide a comprehensive physical activity program that involves paddling, balance drills, games & activities in a positive fun environment. Spread the word!
