Pickering Rouge Canoe Club - Inspiring young paddlers in our communities since 1958

PRCC’s Leaders in Training program is designed for participants aged 14 – 16. The goal of the LIT program is to introduce participants to a leadership environment and to develop their skills. In this program, participants have several workshops throughout their two weeks with the Lead Camp Coach, Lead Bantam Coach, and Youth Programs Coordinator designed to refine different leadership skills; such as problem-solving, creative thinking, and communication. Once they have finished with their site orientation on the first Monday, LITs will be assigned to a group. They will work with that coach for the remainder of that week and will be assigned a different group the next week. Because both of our summer youth programs are running out of the same location (Glen Rouge Campground) LITs will have the opportunity to work with both Bantam and Camp groups. In their group, LITs may be asked to lead a quiet game, assist with hand-sanitizing, and gather equipment. At the very end of the day, LITs help bring in all of the equipment used that day, including boats.
