School’s Out and Paddles are Up! Our Regatta is July 14!
With a hot and humid start to the summer, our paddlers and campers are happy to be on the water. The U15 Sprint program (known as Bantam) has begun on Frenchman’s Bay. The closure of Beachpoint Promenade for construction means that paddlers are walking or biking to the Club from the trail head at Sunrise Avenue. Fortunately there are no road closures this year for our Canoe and Kayak Camp at Rouge Beach in Scarborough. Our well qualified and enthusiastic coaches and counselors are eager to make Bantam and Camp the best part of the summer. Check our Facebook page for great photos of all the fun.
Because of the Beachpoint construction, we have moved the PaddleALL program to Bruce Hanscombe Park temporarily. We are grateful for the support of local residents and for the pod provided by the City of Pickering to house the PaddleALL boats.
The Pickering Rouge – Balmy Beach Regatta is on Saturday, July 14 at Rouge Beach
The format will be a run and paddle with an emphasis on fun. PaddleALL and Master’s athletes have only a paddle down the beautiful Rouge River. We are looking for lots of volunteers to help us run the races and a BBQ. This is a great time to work your volunteer hours. Volunteers are needed from both Pickering Rouge (PRCC) and Balmy Beach (BBCC).
Sign up for volunteering is on our “Jobs and Volunteering” page at http://pickeringrouge.ca/jobs-volunteering/. Please sign up for more than one time slot if you are available.
2018 is PRCC’s 60th anniversary – let’s celebrate!
