Our Supporters

Partner Associations

Pickering Rouge Canoe Club competes within the Western Ontario Division, one of six divisions of Canoe Kayak Canada.

Canoe Kayak Ontario (CKO), which represents the sport of Olympic Sprint Canoe Kayak racing, is the collective voice for canoeing and kayaking in Ontario and is our Provincial Sport Organization. The main function of CKO is to implement, manage and monitor programs and activities that are provincial in scope and its primary responsibility is athlete development.

Membership

Members are our biggest supporters. By registering for a PRCC program (other than canoe and kayak camp or Intro to Sprint), you are considered a member of the club. Membership is for the calendar year in which you have a confirmed registration. Members can attend Club events, run for Board positions and vote at the Club AGM held annually in November. Members are also required to contribute volunteer hours. See our Jobs & Volunteering page for opportunities on how you can make PRCC the best it can be.

Sponsors and Suppliers

Canada Summer Jobs Grant

PRCC received funding from the federal government through its Canada Summer Jobs Grant in 2019, 2018 and in earlier years. This grant helped to fund wages for camp counsellors and sprint coaches, allowing PRCC to offer reasonably priced children’s programs.

OPG Corporate Citizenship Program 2019/20

PRCC is grateful to receive $2,500 from Ontario Power Generation for PRCC’s Special Olympics / PaddleAll program. The funds were used to purchase a stable, one-person kayak (Vajda Civetcat K1) that was greatly needed. The kayak was well-received and necessary to maintain and expand the program.

Quest for Gold

PRCC is grateful to the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport for awarding us a Quest for Gold grant that provided us with 3 years of funding to help support a full-time coach and allowed us to hire our Head Coach Rebecca Fanok in 2016.

Ontario Sport and Recreation Communities Fund

PRCC received OSRCF funding from June 2016 to March 2018 for “The Enhanced Paddling Development Program” to build a cohort of  paddlers aged 9-12 by providing coaching, equipment and monetary support. We are grateful to the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport for, among other things, contributing to our small fleet of mini sprint boats including K1s, C1s and our mini K4. These boats have allowed us to build our U15 Sprint program.

Canadian Tire

Canadian Tire – Pickering Parkway Store

Thank you to our local Canadian Tire for supporting PRCC when we did a large purchase of children’s life jackets and kayak paddles. The manager was extremely helpful.
